Job Purpose Statement:
?Provide Nursing leadership, management and direction in regard to setting and maintaining quality standards, staff development and resource management in the daily operation of the unit. The Nurse Manager has an overall accountability for the standard of patient care, appropriate matching of nurse competence to patient need, occupational health and safety of the staff, and clinical risk management. The Nurse Manager is the face of the organization to the key customers, doctors, patients, their families and friends.
Key Accountabilities:
?a. Involved day to day OT operation liked planning, staff assignment and coordinating the OT listing, including OT slot allocation and shifting of cases.
b. Effectively communicate the company vision, mission, core values & nursing strategies to the nurses in the unit.
c. Foster sound professional collegial relationship with Medical, and nursing team, patients and public.
d. Set unit goals and objectives in the consultation with the clinical team.
e. Has overall responsibility for the orientation, induction process, nursing competency assessment, staff learning needs and plans for self & nurses’ career progression.
f. Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care including documentation and make appropriate changes in nursing care delivery and overall organization of the unit.
g. Facilitate reviews with staff on the hospital occurrence reports and ensure plans are implemented to prevent future occurrences.
h. Role model the desired team and leadership behaviors.
i. Conduct daily department rounds to ensure customer satisfaction, resolve & follow throug service/quality/medico-legal issues.
j. Monitor department budget and expenditure to ensure efficient and effective use of consumables.
k. Plan staff schedule to ensure there is efficient use of adequate skill mix in proportion to patient acuity and census.
l. Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Singapore Nursing Board (SNB)/China Registered Nurse Practicing Certificate.
- Diploma in Nursing/Degree Qualification.
- Post-Basic Specialty Certificate/Advance Diploma in Nursing.
- Nursing Administration/Management/Advanced Leadership Diploma (desirable).
- At least 2-4 years’ experience as a Nurse Clinician or Head Nurse. Minimal 10 years’ nursing work experiences.
- Specialty experience preferred.
- Experience as a preceptor/nurse clinician/clinical nurse educator preferred.
- Knowledge of current trends in nursing practice.
