JOB TITLE: Secondary Music Teacher
JOB PURPOSE: To organize and support high quality learning for students in a diverse and inclusive school community.
REPORTING TO: Curriculum leaders
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Teaching and learning:
? Ensure that all students are challenged and receive a consistently outstanding learning experience.
? Effectively apply classroom management strategies.
? Be familiar with and deploy range of contemporary teaching strategies.
? Provide effective formative feedback to support learning.
? Identify and support individual learning needs.
? Maintain and ensure school discipline and respect for others.
? Set high quality home learning.
? Organise learning to ensure appropriate, consistent progress with high expectations for all students across all teaching areas.
? Effectively manage other adults in the classroom.
? Use performance data to evaluate students’ progress and set appropriate targets for improvement.
? Have extensive knowledge and use informal and formal assessment to refine practice and promote the highest outcomes.
? Ensure that work is regularly marked.
? Report progress to parents in a regular basis.
? Implement the requirements of subject guides and subject specifications including an accurate application of assessment rubrics.
? Supervise extended essays if required。
Planning
? Have a well-developed, extensive knowledge of subject specialism and related pedagogy.
? Conceptualise and plan well-structured lessons and programmes that engage, inspire and stretch students encouraging them to be ambitious.
? Have high expectations of behaviour, establishes leadership in the classroom and uses a varitty of management strategies to ensure effective and productive classes for students.
? Maintain up to date knowledge of good pedagogical practice.
? Have an awareness of wider curriculum developments.
? Adapt planning to ensure a personalised learning experience for all students.
Professional learning
? Undertake professional learning and engage with internal CPD opportunities.
? Identify targets and implement a Personal Development Plan.
Skills Knowledge and Experience
Essential
? Have the skills to effectively teach students using technology in a virtual/blended environment.
? Have a minimum of two years teaching experience.
? Demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding and child protection issues.
? Be able to apply effective behaviour management strategies.
? Have a detailed understanding of assessment and the effective use of data to inform planning and promote student progress.
? Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all students.
? Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students.
? Be committed to equality and diversity.
? Have a proven track record of involvement and commitment to all aspects of school life.
Desirable
? Experience of The UK National Curriculums.
? Experience and understanding of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
? Experience of working in and international setting.
? A sound grasp of financial management.
? Experience of Pastoral Care/Form tutor role.
? Experience of working in an international school.
? Experience of working with Students, for whom English may not be their first Language.
