Position Summary:
This role is primarily responsible for overseeing production management, technical management, quality control, and new product transfer of life science reagent products in Guangzhou. It aims to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products, drive continuous operational improvement through Process Performance Improvement (PPI), and align with divisional strategies to achieve operational goals. The position has a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Operations Directors of Business Units (BUs) to synchronize with divisional objectives and practices, supporting the overall operations strategy in China.
Key Responsibilities:
· Production Management: Oversee daily production operations of life science reagents in Guangzhou, including formulating and executing production plans based on customer demand and manufacturing strategies. Coordinate with supply chain and cross-functional teams to optimize equipment utilization, manage work-in-progress (WIP) inventory, and shorten manufacturing cycle time, ensuring on-time delivery.
· Technical Management: Lead process optimization and technical problem-solving for life science reagent production. Maintain proficiency in relevant laboratory techniques (e.g., PCR, qPCR, DNA/RNA isolation/purification, electrophoresis, NGS, ELISA, WB, allergen testing) to guide production teams, resolve technical bottlenecks, and improve process stability.
· Quality Management: Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP, relevant industry regulations). Oversee the investigation of non-conformities and customer complaints, collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and maintain a robust quality management system.
· New Product Transfer Support: Participate in new product launch and production transfer projects. Collaborate with the Project Management Office (PMO) and R&D teams to develop transfer plans, validate production processes, and ensure smooth scaling from R&D to mass production.
· Operational Excellence: Drive lean manufacturing practices to improve key metrics, including service levels, product quality, productivity, health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance, and asset utilization. Leverage PPI to identify and eliminate waste, optimize workflows, and enhance operational efficiency.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary interface for regional and divisional operations, handling customer audits, quality inspections, capital projects, regulatory compliance, and EHS audits. Build close partnerships with sourcing, quality, supply chain, commercial, finance, HR, and overseas sites to integrate resources and achieve "best-in-class" operations.
· Team Leadership: Manage and develop the production team, set clear performance goals, and monitor employee development plans. Recruit, coach, and retain talent to build a high-performing team, ensuring alignment with critical operational objectives.
· Financial & Budget Management: Develop and manage operational budgets to meet or exceed financial targets, with direct responsibility for gross margin. Control production costs through efficient resource allocation and process optimization.
Requirements/Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Biotechnology or related life science fields is required.
· At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing, with 2+ years in a supervisory/managerial role, and 3+ years of experience in multinational companies (preferably in the life science or reagent industry).
· Proficiency in both English and Chinese (oral and written), with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Deep understanding of life science reagent production processes.
· Have knowledge about relevant laboratory techniques (e.g., PCR, qPCR, ELISA, NGS, etc.).
· Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., GMP) and regulatory requirements for life science products.
· Strong leadership skills, with a track record of team management, performance development, and cross-functional collaboration.
· Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex situations and make data-driven decisions.
· Proficiency in office software and operational management tools; strong organizational and project management skills.
